My academic teachers often tell me that I question at an exceptional level of detail. Nonetheless, my goal is to plumb the depths of anatomy and physiology in order to return to the big picture, asking, “What questions does this information answer?” followed immediately by “What additional questions does this provoke?” The history of scientific breakthrough is full of students who noticed previously unidentified patterns and excavated them despite skepticism from learned authorities. Such pursuit requires substantial reserves of patience and courage; though I cannot claim foresight of great discoveries ahead of me, I am certain that my curiosity, once awakened, is not easily pacified with incomplete or superficial answers.
My approach is to master current scientific theory with an uncommitted eye and to ponder unexplained patterns in the hopes of opening deeper lines of inquiry into the nature of life. In particular, I’m fascinated by the intricacies of the nervous system and the miraculous dialogue between the nervous and endocrine (hormonal) systems. Additional webpages will follow on these topics and others. . . .
Shaped as a generalist by a liberal arts education and by personal experience with the vulnerabilities of the nervous system, I apply my scientific curiosity to questions which may enhance our physical and emotional continuity, and strengthen valuable connections & understanding among humans and animals.
